Acupuncture is the ancient healing art of inserting fine needles at precise points in the body to stimulate and regulate the flow of Qi, or energy. This practice helps to restore and balance the body’s energy, stimulates healing, and promotes relaxation.
By restoring balance to the Qi of all the internal organs, acupuncture has been shown to have a dramatic effect in improving a wide range of health problems, including reducing or eliminating chronic pain, alleviating emotional stress and anxiety, and reducing inflammation and the effects of associated chronic and degenerative diseases. David practices both traditional Japanese and Chinese acupuncture.
Japanese Acupuncture
David Kaminker, LAc, MSOM, has extensive training in Japanese acupuncture, from the Ki Shin Po tradition. The Ki Shin Po lineage is based in all of the same classic texts and meridian theory as traditional Chinese acupuncture. The primary difference lies in the techniques. This form of Japanese acupuncture is extremely gentle, using insertion of the thinnest possible needles to achieve an effect without causing discomfort. It is also known for its “non-insertive needling” techniques, in which a round-tipped needle is used on the acupuncture point, without penetrating the skin. Throughout a treatment, great emphasis is placed on balancing the meridians and organs, using the radial pulses as a direct feedback mechanism. In addition, David employs gold magnets and mild moxibustion techniques to stimulate the acupuncture points and meridians. Japanese acupuncture is deeply relaxing, restorative, and transformational.
Chinese Acupuncture
David also uses Chinese acupuncture techniques in the style of Dr. Richard Tan and Master Tung. While this approach can be more dynamic and intense than Japanese acupuncture, it is proven to be extremely effective for pain relief and musculoskeletal symptoms. Utilizing classical meridian theory and meridian relationships, David's treatments can have a dramatic effect of instantly relieving acute and chronic pain.
Traditional Chinese Medicine
Traditional Chinese Medicine is a complete system of natural medicine that has been used for over 2,000 years to balance all aspects of health and well-being. Chinese medicine includes:
• Acupuncture • Herbal Medicine • Bodywork • Moxibustion • Cupping • Qi Gong • Nutrition & Lifestyle Counseling
David uses the principles of Traditional Chinese Medicine to assess each client’s unique constitution. He develops a diagnosis and treatment plan based on five-element theory, classical meridian theory, traditional tongue and pulse diagnosis, symptomology, and Japanese abdominal palpation. David uses thin sterile needles to gently activate the body’s Qi (energy), restoring inner balance to the meridians and organ systems. Moxibustion, cupping, Zen shiatsu, herbal medicine, as well as dietary and lifestyle recommendations, are integrated into David's acupuncture treatments.
David draws upon each of these practices, depending upon the needs of each individual. Chinese medicine is holistic by nature, meaning that we treat each patient as a whole person, taking into account all aspects of the body, mind, and spirit.
Acupuncture can be combined with Craniosacral Therapy.
